Rigs and Winders

The main and greatest tool for stop motion animators are rigs and winders.
A Rig is an articulated arm capable of holding objects and puppets in the air when needed. Their major objective of this tool is to fight the gravity and keep everything steady in position to take each frame. They are often used to achieve complex movements like walks, jumps or making things fly. They are very handy, you can move all their parts to achieve the desired position helping your animation needs.

Winders are a complex device that allows extremely precise control, when you need to keep track of tiny increments in a linear movement. They are controlled by a wheel and hold things by a regular rig arm.
